Michael grew up in Rapperswil (SG). After graduating from secondary school, he went on to study Ethnology, the History of Art and Film Studies at university, but left after two years to shoot his road movie “NACHT DER GAUCKLER” – without any funding.
After this abrupt introduction into the film business, he shot a few feature films and TV movies for Switzerland; the biggest success of these being “Mein Name ist Eugen”.
Michèle worked with Michael for the first time in 2002 on a corporate film. She called him from Australia and asked whether he could jump on a plane the very next day (10 days before Christmas) and replace the original director, who had dropped out. Steiner replied, “Ok. Can I bring my wife?” The deal was done and a friendship was born.
Since then we have shot a few advertising films with him, and represent him exclusively in the advertising field.
